Aft e r Use
I t is a good idea t o leav e t he barbecue on for about 10 m inut es aft er y ou have finished cooking. This helps
t o burn away any ex cess food r esidues and oil, and m akes cleaning easier.
1. Be sure t o t urn off all cont rol knobs and t he gas supply.
2. Allow t he barbecue t o cool.
3. Clean t he drip t ray and cooking surfaces. Clean any food spills from t he side burner , if one is
inst alled.
4. Low er t he hood and side burner lid.
The gas cylinder supply valve m ust be t urned off when t he appliance is not in use.
D ir e ct Cook in g M e t h od
Com m only used for t radit ional barbecuing. Place food ov er t he lit grill sect ion. Som e flaring m ay occur, so
car e m ust be t ak en while cooking. Check inside t he r oast ing hood regularly. The direct cooking m et hod is
recom m ended for st eak s, chops, sausages, and ham burgers.

I ndirect cooking involves lit t le or no heat direct ly underneat h t he food. I nst ead, t he food is placed on t he
grill, t he burner s below t he food are t urned off or Low, and burner s on eit her side ar e used. The hood is
closed t o t rap heat and m oist ure. Wit h t his m et hod, heat circulat es ar ound t he food, cooking by
conv ect ion. By t rapping t he vapour inside your " out door ov en" , t he cook ing vapour will fall back on t he
food on all sides, not j ust fr om underneat h. The food cooks m or e ev enly, and st ays m oist in t he pr ocess.
I ndirect cooking is sim ilar t o using a conv ent ional oven and is r ecom m ended for rot isserie cooking, roast s,
poult ry, casser oles, v eget ables and whole fish.
When cooking a roast , it is a good idea t o use a roast holder and baking dish. Always use a baking dish
wit h a dept h great er t han 35m m . Shallower t rays m ay fill quickly and overflow, which m ay cause a fat
fire.

The cont r ol knob can now be t urned t o t he desir ed heat set t ing, Low, High or anywhere in bet ween. The
cont r ol knob does not need t o be pushed in while select ing t he heat set t ing.

When st oring barbecue for ext ended periods, be cert ain all cont rols and cylinder valves ar e t ur ned off. I f
st oring t he barbecue indoors r em ove gas cylinder and st or e t he cylinder in a vent ilat ed area out door s. Gas
cylinders m ust be st ored out doors, out of r each of children and m ust not be st or ed in a building, garage or
any ot her enclosed ar ea.
The barbecue should be covered when not in use. Eg wit h a polyest er or vinyl barbecue cover.
