If the heater on vehicles with a Diesel
engine will not start or stops after ope-
rating for a while, an automatic cut-out
switches the heater off. If the heater
cannot be started by switching the rotary
switch off and on, the heater is defective
and must be repaired in a V.A.G work-
See page 95.
The heater on vehicles with a petrol
engine has a safety switch which is lo-
cated under the dash on the left near
the steering column. If the heater does
not start, or starts and then stops again,
wait 3 minutes and then operate the red
lever on the safety switch.
If the heater still does not work or if the
safety switch stops it again, there is a
defect in the heater which can only be
repaired by a V.A.G workshop.
