Dolby Digital and DTS

≥Dolby Digital and DTS are digital encoding systems used
on DVD to carry surround sound. Both were originally
developed for use in cinemas.
≥This unit automatically recognizes and decodes these
systems.
Software encoded with
Dolby Digital can be
identified with this mark.
Play a Dolby Digital or DTS source.
The Dolby Digital or DTS indicator lights.

Press [MIX 2CH].

Press and hold [MIX 2CH].
≥ To cancel
[RT30]
Press [MIX 2CH] again.
[RT70]
Press and hold [MIX 2CH] again.
[RT70]
This cannot be set while "Surround Enhancer" (➡ 48)
is set to "ON" ("ERROR" is displayed in the display
window). Please set this once "Surround Enhancer" is set
to "OFF".
When "D.MIX" flashes on the display
[DVD-A]
The DVD-Audio contains multiple-channel
signals that cannot be down-mixed.

Muting the sound

Press [MUTING].
(Settings can be confirmed on the display or the television
screen.)
"MUTING" flashes on the
unit's display.
To cancel
≥Press [MUTING] again or reduce the volume to minimum
"VOL 0", then raise it to the required level.
≥Muting is cancelled when you switch the unit to standby.
∫ To listen to sound from this unit through your
television's speakers
Connect the television and the AV1 terminal on this unit
using a 21-pin Scart lead.
Press and hold [MUTING] until "A1 MUTE OFF" appears
on the unit's display.
The audio is output from both the speakers and the television.
To mute sound from this unit's speakers (➡ above)
≥ To cancel, press and hold [MUTING] and select "A1 MUTE
ON".

Adjusting the subwoofer level

Press [SW.LEVEL].

≥The setting you make is retained.
≥This cannot be set when headphones are connected.

Speaker level adjustments

Adjust the level of the speakers so they are the same
apparent level as the front speakers where you would
normally be sitting and listening.
Preparation
≥Press [DVD] to select the DVD drive.
≥Turn off the other sound effects.
When stopped or playing discs with 2 channel or
monaural audio
You can adjust the balance of the front speakers.
≥You can also adjust the L/R Surround speakers while
"Sound Field Control (SFC)" or "Surround Enhancer
(
[RT70]
)" is set to on. Please perform the following "When
playing Multi-channel discs" operations.
1 Press [CH SELECT].
2 Press [2, 1] to adjust the "L", "R" balance.
When playing Multi-channel discs
1 Press [CH SELECT].

Press [CH SELECT] to select the speaker.
