 If you are converting from a hot-swap system to a fixed drive system, you will need to
remove two air baffles. For instructions, see

drive kit to install the fixed drive components.
10. Disconnect all cables from the backplane.
11. (If converting from a hot-swap drive system to a fixed drive system only): Remove the control
panel and disconnect the front panel cable from the control panel. For instructions on removing
the control panel, see
remove the USB cable from the control panel.
12. (If converting from a hot-swap drive system to a fixed drive system only): Remove the flex
cable from the server board. See your server board documentation to locate the connection
point on the server board.
13. (If converting from a hot-swap drive system to a fixed drive system only): Remove the fan
distribution cable from the fan module.
14. Holding the backplane only by the edges, lift it from the chassis. Use caution so you do not
press on any components on the backplane.
15. (If converting from a fixed drive system to hot-swap drive system only): Store the air baffles,
any cables you removed, and any removed CD-ROM / DVD-ROM or floppy drive
components.
16. Store the backplane for future use.
17. (If converting from a hot-swap drive system to a fixed drive system only): Use the instructions
that came with your fixed drive kit to install the fixed drive components.
18. (If installing a new SATA or SCSI backplane only): Follow the instructions below to replace
your backplane.
