It is the responsibility of the system integrator that chooses not to use Intel developed server building blocks to consult vendor datasheets and operating parameters to determine the amount of airflow required for their specific application and environmental conditions.

Chassis Security To help prevent unauthorized entry or use of the server, the chassis includes one chassis intrusion switch at the rear of the chassis. This intrusion switch can be monitored by server management software.

    The front bezel has a two-position lock to prevent access to the hard drives and the interior of the chassis. A padlock loop is included with the chassis and can be installed at the rear of the chassis.     2 Setting Up the Chassis This chapter describes how to set the server up for the first time. With the exception of replacing the front panel board (discussed in Chapter 4), it is necessary to remove only the left access cover, not the cover at the right.

    Warnings and Cautions These warnings and cautions apply whenever you remove the access cover(s) to access components inside the server. Only a technically qualified person should integrate and configure the server. WARNINGS The power button on the front panel DOES NOT turn off the AC power.

    2. Slide the drive cage out of the chassis. You may need to push the cage out from the inside of the chassis. 3. For additional information, read and follow the instructions provided with the server board Quick Start User’s Guide. These instructions will guide you through preparing the board, processors, and memory for installation.

    6. Hold board by its top edge or upper corners. Firmly press it into an expansion slot on the server board. The end of a full-length expansion card must slide into the plastic card guide slot at the front of the chassis and the tapered foot on the expansion card bracket must fit into the slot in the retention slot frame.

    3. Rotate the left side of the bezel (facing up in the figure below) over the side of the chassis to engage the two tabs. See number 3 in the figure.   • Page 48 If you place the server board on a conductive surface, the battery leads may short out. If they do, this will result in a loss of CMOS data and will drain the battery. Use a conductive foam pad if available but not the board wrapper.
