3. Check the serial number labeled on the back of the printer upper case and input 10 digit
serial number. After inputting the serial number, click "OK" and the rest 8 digit will be
automatically generated by the program and the total 18 digit will be indicated as
shown in the figure below.

NOTE: You can check if the communication of the USB port is performed normal
by selecting the "Confirmation of USB port function" menu from the
USB ID check/input main menu. Note this function is valid only under
Windows98 environment. (See Figure 5-25: this menu is in shadow in
Figure 5-25 since this function is not valid under Windows95.) By
selecting this menu, A4 pattern will be printed.

5.3.9 Head Cleaning

This item is selected from the maintenance program main menu. When dot missing is
occurred, execute this program to perform the head cleaning more effectively. By
selecting and performing this sequence, the powerful cleaning (CL' which consumes
ink the most among manual CL + rubbing) will be performed.
1. Select "Head cleaning" from the maintenance program main menu. The following
screen appears.
2. Click "OK" in the screen above and the most powerful cleaning will be performed.
