Installing and removing a SmartCard reader
(optional)
You can operate a maximum of 2 internal USB components in your device. An adapter
i
cable (available as an option) will be needed for the second internal USB component (e.g.
a WLAN module or a MultiCard reader).
A carrier is needed to install a SmartCard reader in a 5¼ inch bay. When this carrier is
used, the SmartCard reader can be installed in the 5¼ inch bay instead of a Weight Saver
or a 5¼ inch drive.

Screw the SmartCard reader onto the carrier

► Open the casing (see "Opening the casing").
► If there is a Weight Saver in the 5¼ inch bay, remove it as described in the chapter "Installing
an accessible 5¼ inch drive".

► Push the SmartCard reader - with the
component side facing downwards - in the
direction of the arrow (1) into the guide of
the carrier (a).
► Secure the SmartCard reader with the
screws (2).
