3.5.22. Fan Motor Control Circuits
There are three fan motors (fuser fan, sub fuser fan and PSU
fan motors activated by +24VC power) in the printer engine.
When the main power switch is turned on, the +24VC power is
supplied to each fan motor from the power supply unit. The
3.5.22.1. Fuser Fan Motor Control Circuit
The FSRFNERR is used for detecting whether the fuser fan motor is rotating or not. When the fuser fan motor is not rotating
properly, the detecting signal is a high. This signal is inputted into pin 213 of IC14 (ASIC). IC1 (CPU) receives this information
through IC14 and displays the call service code "Printer Error 54" on the LCD display.
The signal FSRFNCTL is for controlling the rotation speed of fuser fan motor. During the printing, this signal is the high, turning on
the transistors Q46 and Q47. As a result, the fuser fan motor rotates the high speed because the 24V power is supplied to the fuser
fan motor. At the standby or preheating, this signal is the low, turning off the transistors Q46 and Q47. As a result, the fuser fan
motor rotates the low speed because the power that is supplied to the fuser fan motor is reduced from 24V to approximately +19V.
FSRFNERR, SUBFNERR and PSFNERR are used for
detecting whether each fan motor is properly rotating or not.
When the fan motor is not rotating properly, the detecting
signals is high and an Error is displayed.
