3.5.20.2. CMY Motor Drive Circuit
This circuit is used for driving the CMY motor which supplies the rotation to the color print cartridge. The CMY motor control signals
are explained as follows :
NPIKMON :
This signal is the control signal for the CMY motor. To rotate the BK motor, IC14 outputs the low level NPIKMON from pin 193
of IC14 to IC17 ( pin 11 ). This signal is sent to the CMY motor control circuit through IC27, connector CN12. When the signal
NPIKMON ( pin 10 of CN12 ) becomes a low, the CMY motor starts to rotate.
PIKMCLK :
This is the external clock for the CMY motor. At 600 dpi color printing, this 267.15 Hz ( 1602.87 rpm ). At 1,200 dpi color printing,
this 133.57 Hz ( 801.44 rpm ).
NPIKMLD :
This is the CMY motor speed detection signal sent from the CMY motor driver in the CMY motor. The CMY motor is kept at a
constant speed ( 600 dpi color printing : 1602.87 rpm, 1,200 dpi color printing : 801.44 rpm ). When the CMY motor speed is
not PIKMLD signal, and the error message "Printer Error 66" is displayed on the LCD display.
PIKMG :
This is the CMY motor gain control signal to control the BK motor speed. This signal PIKMG is sent from pin 196 of IC14 to the
BK motor through IC17 and connector CN12. When pin 16 of connector CN12 is a low, the gain adjustment for 1,200 dpi
printing mode is done by the CMY motor drive circuit in the CMY motor. When pin 16 of CN12 is a high, the gain adjustment
for 1,200 dpi printing mode is done.
