Paper Feed Unit Drive Circuit
Pickup Solenoid Drive Circuit
This circuit consists of the solenoid drive circuit and short detection circuit. When feeding the paper from the standard paper
cassette, IC14 outputs the high level signal RSVSOL1 (pin165), turning on the transistor Q28. By the transistor Q28, the
transistor Q3 is turned on and +24 V power is supplied to the pickup solenoid. Besides, IC14 outputs the high level PICSOL
signal (pin174 of IC14). As a result, the pickup solenoid is energized. This transmits the rotation from the BK motor to the pickup
roller shaft with the pickup rollers. A paper is picked-up from the standard paper cassette by the rotation of the pickup rollers.
The short detection circuit is for detecting whether the solenoid drive circuit is shorted or not. If this circuit is shorted, the signal
NFAILDR (pin173 of IC14) becomes a low level. IC14 receives this signal, and detects that the solenoid drive circuit is shorted.
The error message "Printer Error 47" is displayed on the LCD display.
Paper Empty and Registration Sensor Circuits
The empty sensor circuit is for detecting whether the paper is installed or not in the standard paper cassette. When the paper
is not installed, the signal STPNON (pin2 of CN1506) is a low. IC14 receives this low level signal, and detects that the paper
is not installed. The message "No Paper (STD))" is displayed on the LCD display.
The registration sensor circuit is for detecting whether the paper arrives or not at the registration roller. When the paper arrives
at the registration roller, the signal NREGSEN (pin1 of CN1506) is a low. IC14 receives this low level signal, and detects that
the paper arrives at the registration roller. If the paper does not arrive at the registration roller within the proper time after starting
the printing process, the error message "JAM1" is displayed on the LCD display.
