3.6.10. Flash ROM Interface
The flash ROMs have the programing code, font data, etc and are equipped on the ROM board. When the power is turned on, the
CPU (IC6) starts to read the data (programing code, font data, etc) in the flash ROM to boot the printer and copies it into the main
memory (SO-DIMM).
After that, the CPU executes the program with high speed by reading the data from the main memory (SO-DIMM). When the flash
ROM access requested by the CPU, ASIC1 (IC15) generates the flash ROM access signals (FCE[1:0], FOE, etc).
To prevent the data in the flash ROM from renewing, the write enable signal (FWE) is protected by software control using general
port (EEPCLK) of ASIC2 (IC24). Therefor CN10 is always open.
