3.5.15. Humidity/Temperature Sensor and Print Cartridge Ambient Temperature Sensor
Circuits
<Humidity/Temperature Sensor Circuit>
The temperature/humidity sensor board has the temperature and humidity sensors. The TEMP is an analog signal which
informs the information concerning the printer environment temperature to IC1 (CPU). IC1 receives this analog signal, converts
it to a digital signal internally and detects the printer environment temperature. The HUMI is an analog signal which informs the
information concerning the printer environment humidity to IC1 (CPU). IC1 receives this analog signal, converts it to a digital
signal internally and detects the printer environment humidity. IC1 controls the printing process in accordance with the detected
printer environment temperature and humidity.
<Print Cartridge Ambient Temperature Sensor Circuit>
The Print Cartridge Ambient Temperature Sensor, which is located nearby the black print cartridge, detects the print cartridge
ambient temperature. The print cartridge ambient temperature sensing signal THREG is an analog signal which informs the
information concerning the black print cartridge ambient to IC1 (CPU). IC1 receives this analog signal, converts it to a digital
signal internally and detects the black print cartridge ambient temperature.
When IC1 (CPU) detects approximately 50°C or more, IC1 controls the printing sequence to keep the print cartridge ambient
temperature within limits for best printing quality. IC 15 is the analog multiplexer. When the signal ANSWC is the low, the printer
environment temperature detecting signal TEMP is selected and inputted to pin 94 of IC1 (AN6). When the signal ANSWC is
the high, the print cartridge ambient temperature detecting signal THREG is selected and inputted to pin 94 of IC1 (AN6).
