Chapter 2 Catalyst 3750 Switch Cisco IOS Commands

errdisable detect cause

Use the errdisable detect cause global configuration command on the switch stack or on a standalone
switch to enable error disable detection for a specific cause or all causes. Use the no form of this
command to disable the error disable detection feature.

dhcp-rate-limit Enable error detection for the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

Usage Guidelines
A cause (dhcp-rate-limit, dtp-flap, gbic-invalid, link-flap, loopback, and pagp-flap) is the reason
why the error-disabled state occurred. When a cause is detected on an interface, the interface is placed
in an error-disabled state, an operational state similar to link-down state.
If you set a recovery mechanism for the cause by entering the errdisable recovery global configuration
command for the cause, the interface is brought out of the error-disabled state and allowed to retry the
operation when all causes have timed out. If you do not set a recovery mechanism, you must enter the
shutdown and then the no shutdown commands to manually recover an interface from the
error-disabled state.
