The RS-232 Terminal Port is used to establish a local (out-of-band)
management session with the switch. Using the port, you can access the
switch's management software and configure the switch's operating
parameters.
You establish a local management session by connecting either a VT100
terminal or a personal computer with a terminal emulation program to
the port.
Note
You are not required to manage an AT-9410GB Gigabit Ethernet
Switch. The default switch settings may be sufficient for your
network, in which case you can use the unit as an unmanaged
switch. For the switch's default settings, refer to Default Switch
Settings on page 63.
The RS-232 Terminal Port uses a null modem cable.
