If you need to connect multiple AT-9410GB switches and the switches
are physically separated by large distances, you can install fiber optic
GBIC modules. The modules can span large distances and, since they
operate a 1000 Mbps, can be used to build a fast backbone between the
switches.
One method for connecting multiple switches is with a collapsed
backbone topology, using a high-speed 1000Base-SX or 1000Base-LX
switch as the focal point of the backbone. Figure 20 illustrates a
topology that links six AT-9410GB Ethernet Switches using an AT-9006SX
Gigabit Ethernet Switch. Each AT-9410GB Gigabit Ethernet Switch has at
least one fiber optic GBIC module.
