3. Slide the GBIC module into one of the expansion slots in the front of
the AT-9410GB Switch. The GBIC module is completely seated in the
slot when it clicks into place.
Figure 23 Installing a GBIC Module
Note
If you are installing only one GIBC module in the switch, you should
install the module in the slot labeled GBIC1. While the module will
work in the GBIC2 slot with the GBIC1 slot empty, the port
numbering assignments will change if you later install a module in
the GBIC1 slot. This could affect the VLAN memberships on the
switch and that could require adjusting your VLAN configurations.
For example, if you install a GBIC in the GBIC2 slot with the GBIC1
slot empty, the switch will assign port number 11 to the GBIC in the
GBIC2 slot. If you later install a GBIC in the GBIC1 slot, the switch will
reallocate port number 11 to the new module in the GBIC1 slot and
assign port number 12 to the module in the GBIC2 slot. If the
module in the GBIC2 slot was a member of a VLAN other than the
Default VLAN, you would have to reconfigure the switch's VLANs to
reflect the change to the module's port number.
4. If you purchased two GBIC modules for the switch, repeat this
procedure to install the second module.
