Date and Time

Note
For details on how the SnapGear unit stores and retrieves the date and time between
reboots, see the appendix entitled System Clock.
We recommend setting the SnapGear unit's clock to the correct date and time, otherwise
system log message time stamps do not match the time of the event. If you are using
certificates for SSL or IPSec, it is especially important that you set the date and time
correctly, as all certificates include an expiry date after which they do not function.
Manually setting date and time
Note
If your SnapGear unit does not have a hardware clock (see the appendix entitled System
Clock), the recommended method for setting the date and time is using network time,
described in the section after this one.
Select Date and Time from the System section of the main menu, then the Set Date
and Time tab.
If you have a Javascript enabled web browser, click the top Set Date and Time button to
synchronize the time on the SnapGear unit with that of your PC.
You may also set the date and time manually by selecting the Year, Month, Date, Hour
and Minute and clicking the bottom Set Date and Time button.
