DNS

To configure the SnapGear unit's DNS settings, click the DNS tab on the Network Setup
page. These settings control the SnapGear unit's network name services.
The DNS configuration information is stored in /etc/config/dnsmasq.conf. For a complete
list of the options that may be stored in this file run the following command:
# dnsmasq --help
DNS proxy
The SnapGear unit can be configured to run a domain name server (DNS) proxy. The
SnapGear unit passes incoming DNS requests from internal clients to an external DNS
server, and forwards the reply back to the internal client.
If the DNS proxy is enabled, all the computers on the LAN can specify the IP address of
the SnapGear unit as their DNS server.
Check Enable DNS proxy to enable this feature. If you are using the SnapGear unit's
DHCP server, you may also check Update DNS with local DHCP leases. This allows
the SnapGear unit's DNS proxy to look up the names of devices that have requested IP
addresses.
