For safety reasons, tyres should be
rep la ced when their tread depth has worn
down to 2-3 mm. The legal perm issible
minimum tread depth (1. 6 mm) has been
rea ched when the tread has worn down as
far as one of the wea r ind icators.
Wear indica tors are sp aced at eq ual
intervals around the ty re within the tread.
Their position is indicated by markings on
the ty re sidewall.

Note that the danger of aquaplaning is
greater if the tyres are w orn.

Tyre designations
Meanings:
e.g. 225/45 R17 91W
225 = Tyre width in mm
45 = Aspect ratio in %
(tyre height to tyre width in %)
R = Belt type: Radial
17 = Rim diameter in inches
91 = Load index
W = Sp eed rating
Speed c od e letters:
Q Up to 100 m ph (160 km/h)
S Up to 112 m ph (180 km/h)
T Up to 118 m ph (190 km/h)
H Up to 130 m ph (210 km/h)
V Up to 150 m ph (240 km/h)
W Up to 168 m ph (270 km/h)
Winte r tyre s
Winter tyres cannot b e fitted to the
standard wheels of your VX220.
S pecial size wheels, which are available
from y our Vauxhall Approved Repairer
must therefore be installed .
M+S tyres im prove safety at temperatures
below 7 °C and should therefore be fitted
on all wheels.
The design of summ er ty res means they
have limited qualities for winter driving.
If the max im um perm issible speed for the
winter ty res is less than that of the v ehicle,
a notice indicating the m aximum
permissible sp eed for the tyres must b e
affixed within the driver's field of v ision
