Inspecti on of bel ts
Periodically inspect all parts of the b elt
system for damag e and to mak e sure they
are functioning properly. Have da maged
parts replac ed. After an accid ent,
overstretched belts m ust be replaced by
new ones. We recom mend consulting your
Vauxhall Approved Rep airer.
Do not perform a ny alterations on the
belts, their anchora ges, the autom atic
retractors or the b elt buckles.
Make sure that belts are not dam aged or
trapped by sharp-edged objects.

Belt te nsioners
The seat b elt system incorporates b elt
tensioners. I n the event of a head-on
collision the belts are pulled downwards;
the diagonal and lap belts a re
instantaneously tightened.
Actuati on of belt tensioners
If the belt tensioners ha ve been actuated,
they m ust be rep la ced by a workshop. We
recommend your Vauxhall Approved
Repairer.
The b elt tensioners are operational only
when the control indica tor is unlit.
Belt t ensioner control i nd icator
The seat belt tensioners are monitored
electronically together with the airbag , and
their operational readiness shown by the v
control ind icator in the instrument panel.
When the ignition is switched on, the
control ind icator illum inates, then
extinguishes. I f it does not light up or if it
illuminates during driving, there is a fault in
the airbag system or the belt tensioners
(see also page 37). H ave the system
checked without delay. We recommend
y our Vauxhall Approved Repairer. The
system' s integral self-diagnosis facility
allows faults to b e q uick ly rem edied.
