5 Troubleshooting Common Problems
Problems related to Web Browser
If this is the case, Netscape Communicator is not properly configured
and you must reconfigure Netscape Communicator to be able to launch
.EXE files. To do this:
1 Select the Edit Menu, then Preferences...
2 In the Preferences window, select Navigator\Applications.
3 Click 'New type' and enter the following information:
Description of type: Application
File extension
MIME type
4 You will then be prompted with:
Application to use: "%1" %*
Click 'OK' twice to update Netscape Communicator. You can then
choose "Click Here" in the "Create a Deployment Database" screen to
run the Database Creation Utility Setup.
Problems arise when using Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02 to
browse the HP ConfigTailor CD-ROM.
There are two possible causes for these types of problems:
1 Under Windows NT4.0 (SP3), if the color palette is set to "True
Color" in the display properties dialog box, IE 3.02 can loop forever
when an HTML file contains a Java applet. This is an IE 3.02 bug
which is well-documented on the Microsoft Knowledge base at:
http://support.microsoft.com/.
Possible solutions are:
Use another browser, such as Microsoft IE 4.0x or Netscape

Communicator 4.x, or,
In Control Panel, select Display, then Settings. Set the Color
•
Palette to another value.
