Client Tasks

This chapter describes tasks that are performed from client PC
workstations, such as remotely installing software from the deployment
database to a client PC workstation. It also details how the HP
ConfigTailor CD-ROM can be used to locally install or recover software
applications such as HP utilities and drivers.
Remote Installation from a Deployment Database to a
Client PC workstation
Once the deployment database has been set up, either the
administrator or end user can begin installing the software onto
individual client PC workstations. Installation is initiated by booting
each PC workstation from the HP ConfigTailor CD-ROM.
Before initiating a remote installation, make sure you know the name
of the configuration profile you will use, the remote server name, your
network user name and password.
To begin installation:
1 Boot the PC workstation on which the installation is to be performed
from HP ConfigTailor CD-ROM. (To do this, press F8 when the HP
Kayak PC Workstation screen appears, and change the boot device
to the CD-ROM.)
2 A welcome screen will appear and you will be asked to choose your
preferred language. (Only English is available in current versions.)
Use the TAB key on your keyboard to move between selections and
press Enter or Space to select an option.
