Remote Installation from a Deployment Database to a Client PC workstation
3 HP ConfigTailor will scan the hardware on the client PC and then
give the user a choice between Remote Install, and Local Install or
Reinstall/Repair.
Remote Install allows you to install software from the deployment
database using a configuration profile defined by the system
administrator. Choose this option if you wish to perform a Remote
Installation and select Next.
Local Install allows you to install software components directly
from the CD-ROM - no deployment database is required. For more
information about these options, please refer to "Local Installation"
on page 45 or
Local Recover (HP ConfigTailor 1.0) or Local Reinstall/Repair
(HP ConfigTailor 1.1) allow you to reinstall a lost operating
environment or repair a damaged operating system (refer to "Local
Recovery, Reinstallation and Repair" on page 46). Personal data
losses cannot be recovered using this option.
4 Enter the name of the configuration profile you will use, the remote
server name, your network user name and password. Select Next.
5 HP ConfigTailor will load the requested configuration profile and
prompt the user to confirm or complete the information given in the
profile concerning:
a Network configuration.
b User information.
Once this information has been confirmed, installation will begin.
The installation will reformat the primary partition of the hard disk
drive of the client PC workstation. If the partition size has been
changed, or if the existing primary partition type was not FAT16, the
entire hard disk drive will be reformatted and repartitioned.
