(random-access memory) Computer memory in
which an individual byte or range of bytes can
be addressed and read or changed without
affecting other parts of memory.

System feature that allows an outside caller to
gain access to the system, almost as if at a
system extension.
Procedure whereby saved and archived
system programming is reinstated on the
system, from a floppy disk or memory card.

Physical interface, specified by the Electronics
Industries Association (EIA), that transmits and
receives asynchronous data at distances of up
to 50 feet (15 m).
Signaling in which the least significant bit of

signaling in that channel.
