LOCALMOD CP HCPTDD ASSEMBLE (ASM HL
A typical LOCALMOD command for the full pack minidisk modification would be:
LOCALMOD CP HCPTMD ASSEMBLE (ASM HL
When the command has been entered, the minidisk/directory assignments will be displayed. If
the environment setup is successful, a message indicating successful processing will be displayed
and then a message similar to the following will be displayed:
VMFLMD1301R Local modification L0005 is being created for update
part HCPTDD
To test the setup, enter 0 to stop the process. To make the change, you respond 1 to this message.
When you continue, the file specified by the filenm and filetyp parameters is opened in XEDIT.
Use the information in the appropriate section for the modification you are making (Modification
for Full Pack Minidisks or Modification for Dedicated Disks). When you complete the editing, exit
XEDIT in the normal manner and the macro files will be assembled. If there are any errors, they
must be resolved before moving to the next step. When the assembly has completed successfully,
you are ready to move to the SERVICE step. If you are making both modifications, perform the
LOCALMOD step twice (once for each modification) before proceeding to the SERVICE step.

The SERVICE Step

You must run SERVICE for each component that is processed. Even if you made two local
modifications, both modifications were to the CP component. You will only have to run the SERVICE
step once. Enter the command:
SERVICE CP BUILD
This will build the local modifications for the specified component (CP in this case). If any errors
occur during the SERVICE step, they must be resolved prior to moving to the PUT2PROD step.

The PUT2PROD Step

Prior to running PUT2PROD, make sure that the current z/VM IPL image is preserved so that it can
be used if an error occurs when IPL'ing using the new image PUT2PROD creates. Running PUT2PROD
places the local modifications into production. This is done by entering:
PUT2PROD
When the PUT2PROD step completes successfully, you are ready to re-IPL the z/VM system. If any
errors occur during the PUT2PROD step, they must be resolved prior to the IPL. It is recommended
that steps be taken to preserve the current z/VM IPL image in case there are any issues when
re-IPL'ing z/VM from the new image.

The re-IPL Step

Take appropriate precautions before performing the re-IPL. In particular, make sure that the IPL
image for z/VM is preserved before shutting down z/VM and performing the IPL. When you
complete the re-IPL, z/VM is ready to support the use of BCM on a z/OS guest.

Install BCM and Test

Install BCM on the z/OS guest system following the instructions in this manual. Once BCM is
installed on the z/OS guest , is setup, and runs; install the license keys and then perform the
discover storage operation as described in the HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity
Manager Software User Guide. When BCM discovers storage using the scan operation, the local
modifications are installed and functioning correctly. If you installed both modifications, be sure
to scan both dedicated and full pack minidisks to verify both capabilities.
