Using the YKALCSVC Command to Register

To register a user SVC, execute the YKALCSVC command when the system starts or before you
use Business Continuity Manager. Before executing the following command, make sure that you
perform the procedure described in
(page
25).
For details about the format for the YKALCSVC command, see
(page
27).

Example of specifying the SVC number

Execute the following command to specify the SVC number:
START YKALCSVC,PARM='SVC-number'
An error is returned if another user SVC is already assigned to the SVC number specified here.
By omitting the PARM parameter, an unused SVC number between 200 and 255 is assigned.
START YKALCSVC
To delete a user SVC, specify DELETE as the parameter and execute YKALCSVC command.
START YKALCSVC,PARM='DELETE'
NOTE:
If you delete a user SVC using the YKALCSVC command while Business Continuity Manager
is running, CLI commands that are being executed terminate abnormally.
If you use the YKALCSVC command to register a user SVC while Business Continuity Manager
is running, CLI commands that are being executed will use the user SVC defined by the
IEASVCxx parmlib member. The registered user SVC will take effect the next time a CLI
command is executed.
The user SVC registered with YKALCSVC command is lost when an IPL is performed. Before
you perform another IPL, HP recommends you specify one of the following settings:
Add the YKALCSVC command to the COMMNDxx parmlib member; so that the user SVC
is automatically registered each time an IPL is performed.
Define the user SVC in the IEASVCxx parmlib member, and then use the user SVC that
is registered at the next IPL.
The user SVC routine registered with the YKALCSVC command of Business Continuity Manager
5.1 or later cannot be deleted by using a YKALCSVC command of Business Continuity Manager
earlier than version 5.1.

Setting Business Continuity Manager Environment Variables

Before starting Business Continuity Manager, use the YKSETENV command to set Business Continuity
Manager environment variables.
A re-IPL procedure will invalidate Business Continuity Manager environment variables set using the
YKSETENV command. Therefore, HP recommends that you use one of the following methods to
automatically set Business Continuity Manager environment variables when a re-IPL takes place:
Add the YKSETENV command to the COMMANDxx parmlib member.
Specify values for the system symbols in the IEASYMxx parmlib member, which correspond
to the Business Continuity Manager environment variables.
After setting the Business Continuity Manager environment variables, use the YKDSPENV command
to verify that they have been specified correctly.
