3. Insert screws through the mounting brackets of the PDU, then
through the vertical column mounting holes, and into the hex nuts
supplied, and tighten them to secure the unit to the rack columns. See
Figure 2-4.
NOTE
With the new HP Rack System/E, you may use threaded
inserts on the outside face of the rear columns to mount PDUs.
CAUTION
Orient the star-washer on the hex nut toward the painted
surface of the rack. Ensure the screw and nut are tightened
sufficiently to cause the star washers to pierce the paint and
bring the lock washer teeth in contact with metal. This helps
ensure that the rack-to-ground connection to the PDU is
made.

Locate EIA unit and decide
which mounting holes to use.
Insert screw. Secure with hex
nut and lock washer. Tighten
screw and nut so washer breaks
paint to make earth ground.
