Problem
Modem does not
dial correctly
Clicking sound and

Possible Cause
Call Waiting may be
interfering.
The modem is
connected to a digital
line. NOTE: The
EXCESS LINE
CURRENT SENSED
message does not
display if the current
is under 100 mA.
The error correction
feature of your
modem software is
interfering.
Solution
Disable Call Waiting
before dialing.

For information about
disabling Call Waiting,
consult your operating
system
documentation.

To obtain the disable
call waiting code for
your dialing area,
consult your local
telephone service
provider.
Connect the modem to a
standard analog
telephone line, then
reestablish the
connection.
Disable error correction
(&KO) and data
compression (&MO)
using AT commands.
NOTE: To access AT
commands and
instructions for using
them, select Start à
Compaq Information
Center à Modem
Commands.
