Solving Infrared Problems
Problem
Cannot transmit
data
Infrared port does
not work

Possible Cause
Direct sunlight,
fluorescent light, or
flashing incandescent
light is close to the
infrared connection.
There is interference
from other wireless
devices.
There is a physical
obstruction
One of the devices
was moved during
data transmission.
The units are
orientated incorrectly.
The distance between
the devices is too
great.

from other wireless

Solution
Remove the interfering
light source(s).
Keep remote control
devices such as wireless
headphones and other
audio devices away from
the infrared connections.
Do not place objects
between the two devices
if the objects will
interfere with a line-of-
sight data transmission.
Do not move either
device during data
transmission.
Adjust the devices so
that they point directly at
one another.
Verify that the devices
are not more than 1.5
feet (about 0.5 meters)
apart.
Remove the interfering
light source(s).
Keep remote control
devices such as wireless
headphones and other
audio devices away from
the infrared connections.
