Notes:
• A minus correction gives you less exposure. Bright
subjects in front of a dark background or very bright
subjects will show more detail.
• A plus correction provides a more generous expo-
sure. Dark subjects in front of a bright background or
completely dark subjects will reveal more detail.
Hints:
• You only need to use exposure compensation when
shooting with slide film. When negatives are en-
larged, exposure compensation is generally balanced
out automatically during processing.
• If you cannot estimate the effect of an exposure cor-
rection, take three shots 0.5 EV apart with exposure
compensation on.
• When you're working with slide film, you can use the
correction factors to influence the colour of the pic-
ture. The saturation of vivid colours (autumn leaves,
children's toys, sails of windsurfers, hot-air balloons
against a blue sky) can be further enhanced by se-
lecting a 0.5-stop minus correction. Delicate colours
(spring foliage, children dressed in light colours,
blossoms) become even gentlier if you compensate
by + 0.5 f-stop.
