PORTRAIT ZOOM

In PORTRAIT ZOOM mode, "Auto" controls the shutter
speed and aperture. It also controls the focal length of
the lens so that the subject will always be the same size.
(Ex. 6 and 7)
1. Press MODE until the arrow in the LCD panel points
to the portrait symbol
2. Shutter speed and aperture are set on the basis of the
film speed and the ambient brightness. The focal
length of the lens is always set so that the subject re-
mains the same size even when the camera-to-sub-
ject distance is changed. Whith people shot in land-
scape mode the photo will always come out as a
half-length portrait.

Note
• Even though the picture stays the same size, the per-
spective will change as a result of altering the camera
viewpoint. If you take your photograph from a short
distance with a short focal length, you'll find a lot of
the background is included. That's useful if you want
to show the subject in suitable surroundings. If you
shoot from a greater distance with a longer focal
length, very little background will appear in the pic-
ture. That's a good thing if you want your subject to
dominate the picture.
