PROBLEM
The WAN LED is
off.
I cannot get a
WAN IP address
from the ISP.
I cannot access
the Internet.
The Internet
connection
disconnects.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
When the ZyXEL Device is in router mode, check the connections between the
ZyXEL Device WAN port and the cable/DSL modem or Ethernet jack.
Check whether your cable/DSL device requires a crossover or straight-through
cable.
Click WAN to verify your settings.
The username and password apply to PPPoE and PPPoA encapsulation only.
Make sure that you have entered the correct Service Type, User Name and
Password (be sure to use the correct casing). Refer to the WAN chapter.
Make sure the ZyXEL Device is turned on and connected to the network.
Verify your WAN settings. Refer to the chapter on WAN setup.
Make sure you entered the correct user name and password.
If the ZyXEL Device is in AP mode, make sure the ZyXEL Device is connected to a
modem or router.
If the ZyXEL Device is in WiFi WAN router mode, make sure the ZyXEL Device is
NOT connected to a modem or router. The ZyXEL Device and AP or wireless
router should use the same wireless and wireless security settings.
If you use PPPoE encapsulation, check the idle time-out setting. Refer to the
Chapter 6 on page
93.
Contact your ISP.
