Before handling a SIMM, discharge any static electricity
by touching a grounded metal object, such as the metal
frame inside the system unit.
Always hold a SIMM by its edges. Avoid touching the
components on the SIMM.
SIMM Installation
Use the following procedures to remove the SIMM memory
board, check SIMM memory, and install SIMMs on the
board.
Removing the SIMM Memory Board
Use the following steps to remove the SIMM memory board
from the system board.
1.
Remove the system cover (see "Removing and Replacing
the System Unit Cover" earlier in this chapter).
CAUTION: Be sure that the system unit power is
turned off and the system is unplugged before you
begin the installation procedure.
Remove the two screws holding the SIMM memory

board to the underside of the bracket bar (see the
following figure).
If you have an expansion board in the way, remove the
board (see "Board Removal" earlier in this chapter).
3.
Carefully pull the SIMM memory board out of its con-
nector on the system board.
4.
Set the SIMM memory board on a non-conductive sur-
face.
