DSC OPERATION
■ Sending DSC calls (Distress)
D Regular call
Select the nature of the Distress call to include in the
Regular Distress call.
Compose Distress
1. Push
• The "COMPOSE DISTRESS" screen is displayed.
L To display the screen from the Menu screen:
[MENU] > Compose Distress
Step 1. Setting a "Nature of Distress"
1. Select "Nature of Distress."
2. Select the nature of the Distress.
(Example: Fire, Explosion)
• The setting is saved and returns to the previous screen.
Step 2. Entering a "Position"
NOTE: When your position data and time are valid,
you can skip this step and go to step 3.
1. Select "Position."
2. Enter your position data and time.
• See page 22 for entering details.
Step 3. Setting a communication frequency
1. Select "Attempt."

2. Select an option. (Example: Multi Frequency)
• The setting is saved and returns to the previous screen.
Step 4. Sending
1. While lifting the key cover, hold down [DISTRESS]
for 3 seconds until you hear 3 short countdown
beeps and 1 long beep sound.
• The backlight blinks.
2. After sending, wait for an Acknowledgment call.
• "Waiting for Distress ACK" is displayed.
• The Distress call is automatically sent every 3.5 to
4.5 minutes until an Acknowledgment is received, or
a Distress Cancel call is sent.
3. When you receive an Acknowledgment, an alarm
sounds. Push

Close Call RCVD Window
5. Hold down [PTT], and then explain your situation.
6. After you have finished your explanation, push
, and then
Standby Mode
to the Main screen.
