FRONT PANEL REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

Service and repair should be performed by only Lincoln Electric factory trained personnel. Unauthorized
repairs performed on this equipment may result in danger to the technician or machine operator and will
invalidate your factory warranty. For your safety and to avoid electrical shock, please observe all safety
notes and precautions detailed throughout this manual. If for any reason you do not understand the test
procedures or are unable to perform the test/repairs safely, contact the Lincoln Electric Service Department
for electrical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed. Call 1-888-935-3877.
TEST DESCRIPTION
This procedure will aid the technician in the removal and replacement of the Front Panel assembly.
MATERIALS NEEDED
3/4" Nutdriver
1/2" Nutdriver
3/8" Nutdriver
Hoist And Appropriate Rigging
Phillips Screwdriver
Wiring Diagram
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn off the engine on the Fleet 650 machine.
2. Perform the Case Cover Removal Procedure.
3. Perform the Chopper Module Capacitor Discharge Procedure.
4. Using a 3/4" nutdriver, remove the bolt, lock washer and flat washer securing the copper bus bar to
the rear of the positive output terminal. See Figure F.33. See Wiring Diagram.
5. Label and disconnect lead 206 from the rear of the positive output terminal. See Wiring Diagram.
6. Using a 3/4" nutdriver, remove the bolt, lock washer and flat washer securing the leads to the rear
of the negative output terminal. See Wiring Diagram.
7. Label and disconnect leads 208, 208B and both choke leads from the rear of the negative output
terminal. See Figure F.33. See Wiring Diagram.
8. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the two screws securing the front panel to the shelf. See Figure
F.34.
9. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the four screws securing the front panel to the base of the machine.
See Figure F.34.
10. Using a 3/8" nutdriver, remove the two screws and washers securing the mounting bracket to the
wood framing, if necessary. See Figure F.34.
11. Using a hoist and appropriate rigging attached to the lift bail, lift the machine to gain access to the
lower front panel mounting screw. See Figure F.34.
12. Using a 1/2" open-end wrench, remove the lower front panel screw securing the front panel to the
base of the machine.
