11. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the remaining three screws securing the fuel tank shield to the shelf.
See Figure F.53. Remove the fuel tank shield.
12. Carefully route leads thru the holes in the shelf.
13. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the five screws securing the shelf to the lift bail frame. See Figure
F.54. Remove the shelf.
14. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the four screws securing the choppers and chokes bracket to the
machine. See Figure F.54.
15. Carefully remove the choppers and chokes bracket from the machine.
16. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the four screws securing the fan baffle to the machine. See Figure
F.54. Remove the fan baffle.
17. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the four screws and lock washers securing the fan to the fan
coupling. See Figure F.55. Remove the fan.
18. Route leads thru the hole in the left baffle. See Figure F.54.
19. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the screw securing the left and right baffles together. See Figure
F.54.
20. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the screw securing the left baffle to the machine. See Figure F.54.
Remove the left baffle.
21. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, remove the screw securing the right baffle to the machine. See Figure F.54.
Remove the right baffle.
22. Using a 3/8" nutdriver, remove the two screws securing the brush holder bracket into the machine.
See Figure F.55. Remove the brush holder bracket.
23. Using a 1 1/8" wrench, remove the nut and washer securing the fan coupling to the rotor shaft. See
Figure F.55.
24. Slide the fan coupling off the rotor shaft.
25. Using a 3/4" deep well socket and a 3/4" open-end wrench, remove the two bolts, nuts and
associated washers securing the stator frame to the rubber mounts. See Figure F.55.
26. Using a hoist and the appropriate rigging attached to the stator frame, lift the stator frame up
slightly off of the rubber mounts.
27. Place wood or steel blocking under the flywheel housing to support the engine.
28. Using a 5/8" socket, remove the eight screws and lock washers securing the stator frame to the
engine.
29. Using a hoist and appropriate rigging, carefully remove the stator frame from the engine.
NOTE: It may be necessary to use a gear puller to remove the stator frame from the engine.
30. Using a hoist and appropriate rigging, support the rotor and shaft assembly.
31. Remove the eight screws securing the rotor coupling disc to the engine.
32. The rotor assembly can now be removed.
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
1. Using a hoist and appropriate rigging, carefully position the rotor assembly into the machine.
2. Attach the eight screws securing the rotor coupling disc to the engine.
3. Using a hoist and appropriate rigging, carefully position the stator frame assembly into the machine.
4. Using a 5/8" socket, attach the eight screws and lock washers securing the stator frame to the
engine.
