PROBLEMS
(SYMPTOMS)
The machine has low welding
output and low auxiliary
output.
The machine has no welding
output. Thermal LED is
illuminated.
If for any reason you do not understand the test procedures or are unable to perform the test/repairs safely, contact the
Lincoln Electric Service Department for electrical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed. Call 1-888-935-3877.
POSSIBLE AREAS OF
MISADJUSTMENT(S)
OUTPUT PROBLEMS
1. The engine RPM may be low.
2. The brushes may be sticking
or poorly seated or the slip
rings may be dirty.
1. The machine has
overheated. Allow the machine
to cool down.
2. Thermostats may be faulty.
3. Dirt or dust may have
clogged the cooling channels
inside the machine.
4. Air intake and exhaust
louvers may be blocked due to
inadequate clearance.

COURSE OF ACTION
1. Inspect and if necessary
service the brushes and slip
rings per the Brush and Slip
Ring Service Procedure.
2. Perform the Rotor Voltage
Test Procedure.
3. Perform the Rotor
Resistance And Ground Test
Procedure (Static).
4. Perform the Rotor
Resistance And Ground Test
Procedure (Dynamic).
5. Perform the Stator Voltage
Test Procedure.
1. Perform the Thermostat
Test Procedure.
