Feature description

The Emergency Breathing System (EBS) consists of various
components which can be combined with one another for dif-
ferent applications. The components of the EBS are as follows:
Full face mask FPS 7000
Lung demand valve with medium pressure tube lines be-
tween 0.85 m and 3 m long
Secor 7000 diving regulator with mouthpiece and 1.8 m
medium pressure tube line
Belt unit
Diver half mask
Extension tube lines with a length of 3 m and 10 m
Fire protection (F)
The full face mask in combination with the lung demand valve
is suitable for breathing during firefighting applications (F). The
system works with positive pressure in the full face mask. A rel-
ative positive pressure is built up in the full face mask. The
quick connect coupling halves of the lung demand valve can
be connected directly to the ring line via the belt unit and an ex-
tension tube of 3 m or 10 m in length. The belt unit has 3 quick
coupling connections. At the 3rd connection, either the second
person of the firefighting team can be connected directly with
a supply tube of max. 3 m in length or a person being rescued
with their lung demand valve. If the firefighting team consists of
2 people, the second person also has a belt unit to which a per-
son to be rescued can connect his/her lung demand valve.
The belt unit has an attachment strap for strain relief. The sup-
ply tubes have plug-in coupling nipples with integrated return
valve.
Personnel in a contaminated atmosphere (O)
The full face mask in combination with the lung demand valve
is suitable for breathing in applications where personnel are in
a contaminated atmosphere (O). The system works with posi-
tive pressure in the full face mask. A relative positive pressure
is built up in the full face mask. The quick coupling half of the
lung demand valve can be connected directly to the ring line.
To achieve this, the tube on the lung demand valve is 3 m long
to provide sufficient freedom of movement.
12
Exit during an emergency (E)
If the affected area needs to be flooded, the diving regulator
with mouthpiece can be used together with the diver half mask.
To achieve this, the tube on the lung demand valve is 1.8 m
long to provide sufficient freedom of movement.
The diver half mask permits vision underwater and seals the
nose with the nose clip.

Intended use

The EBS is used in enclosed spaces, such as submarines. Air
supply to persons is provided via a ring line with tapping points.
The persons are supplied with breathing gas independent of
the ambient atmosphere. The breathing gas must either con-
form to breathing air in accordance with the requirements of
DIN EN 12021 or breathing air in accordance with the require-
ments of DIN EN 12021 with an oxygen concentration of up to
max. 35 Vol%.
Potential applications include:
Fire protection (F)
Face mask (per person)
+ lung demand valve with 0.85 m tube (per person)
+ belt unit (per firefighter)
+ extension tube, 10 m (only 1 per team)
+ extension tube, 3 m (only 1 per team)
The team may to consist of max. 2 firefighters and one person
being saved. The supply tube for the first firefighter has a per-
missible length of max. 10 m; the supply tube from the first to
second firefighter has a permissible length of max. 3 m. The
person being rescued must directly connect his or her lung de-
mand valve into the belt unit of the second firefighter. This sys-
tem is suitable only for breathing at normal ambient pressure.
Types marked with "F" in the order list (see chapter 11) can be
used for firefighting in combination with the FPS 7000 full face
mask. The FPS 7000 is used to protect the airways in an atmo-
sphere contaminated with smoke.
Breathing in a contaminated atmosphere (O)
Face mask (per person)
+ lung demand valve with a 3 m tube
This application is only intended for a single person.
Types marked with "O" in the order list (see chapter 11) can be
used in combination with the FPS 7000 full face mask in con-
taminated atmospheres. The FPS 7000 is used to protect the
airways in an atmosphere contaminated with smoke. This sys-
tem is suitable only for breathing at normal ambient pressure.
Exit during an emergency (E)
Diver half mask
+ diving regulator with mouthpiece and 1.8 m long tube
This application is only intended for a single person.
Types marked with "E" in the order list (see chapter 11) can be
used in combination with the diver half mask for breathing un-
derwater as well as in contaminated atmospheres. This system
is also suitable for breathing underwater and breathing in a
contaminated atmosphere up to an ambient pressure of 9 bar
absolute.
