7.9. - Updating the program.

The X-10 compact has been made up using Flash technology. This characteristic
permits updating the program without disassemble the compact, because this activity
can be done through the power and communication cable of the compact. It is
possible to update the program in two different ways :
•
UPDATING USING PC
It is necessary to own the following elements :
n Interface to record X-10 compacts with Flash memory (code
8590058).
n RS-232 cable (code 8800756).
n Interface power cable (code 8800768).
Steps to update the program :
1.- Connect the PC and interface using the RS-232 cable.
2.- Connect the power and communication cable of the compact to the interface.
3.- Choose the program to record the compact :
a) This program must be placed in the subdirectory \X-10 which will be
placed in the same directory as program REPROYYXX.EXE.
b) Run the program REPROYYXX.EXE (YY-language, XX-program
version). Get into the menu option FLASH - RECORD - X-10 and
choose the program *.hex to record the compact.
4.- Connect the interface power cable to the machine.
5.- When the updating of the program has finished, the message "FLASH
RECORDED" will be shown on the screen.

UPDATING USING J100 CARD READER
It is necessary to own the following elements :
n Interface to record X-10 compacts with Flash memory (code
8590058).
n 128 K programming card (code 8590052).
n Tabletop card reader with the software version updated to record
the programming cards.
n Interface power cable (code 8800768).
Steps to update the program :
1.- Recording the programming card:
a) The program *.hex must be placed in the subdirectory \X-10 which
will be placed in the same directory as program REPROYYXX.EXE.
b) Run the program REPROYYXX.EXE (YY-language, XX-program
version). Get into the menu option CARD - RECORD - X-10 and
choose the program *.hex to record the card. When the recording
has finished, the message "CARD RECORDED" will be shown on
screen.
2.- Connect the X-10 power and communication cable to the interface.
3.- Connect the card reader to the interface.
4.- Connect the power cable of the interface to the machine.
5.- At the beginning of updating the program the green led of the card reader will
remain ON. After that, the two led diodes of the card reader (green and red) will flash.
When the updating of the program has finished, only the green led diode will flash.
