V.35 and X.21 Serial NIC Specifications
In most cases, you connect the card to a DSU/CSU. You can, however,
connect the card directly to a frame relay switch or to a Cisco network series
platform serial port. If you are connecting directly to a Cisco network series
platform, you need a Cisco DCE cable.
To connect to a V.35 or X.21 NIC, use the appropriate adapter cable which
must be ordered separately.
The V.35 and X.21 serial cards can be either single-port or dual-port cards, as
shown.

In most cases, you connect the card to a CSU/DSU.
If you are connecting the card to a CSU/DSU, and the CSU/DSU can provide
a clock, select external clock (the default value) in the physical configuration
section in the Voyager configuration program.
If the CSU/DSU cannot supply a clock, select internal clock and set the clock
speed in Voyager.
You can, however, connect the card directly to a frame relay switch or to a
Cisco network security platform serial port.
