SAFETY
If the vehicle has been modified in any way, familiarize yourself with the func-
tion and effect on the handling characteristics of the vehicle.

MAINTENANCE SAFETY

Routine and scheduled maintenance is necessary to keep the vehicle in safe
and reliable condition. This section provides safety information for performing
maintenance. Read, understand and comply with all of this information to
decrease the risk of personal injury or death.
• Read entire manual and all product labels carefully. Follow the procedures
and comply with the safety information while performing service or mainte-
nance.
• Use specified tools and safety equipment when performing vehicle mainte-
nance.
• Remove all jewelry.
• Do not allow loose clothing or hair to contact moving parts.
• Do not touch hot objects.
• If lifting is required, follow the procedures and safety information on
page 44.
• Lift and support the drive wheels on jack stands before performing any ser-
vice to the powertrain while the motor is in operation.
• Make sure the vehicle is stable on jack stands before getting underneath.
• Never get under a vehicle while it is on a jack only.
• Wear eye protection.
• Wear a face shield when working around battery packs.
• Be careful when working around battery packs, using solvents, or com-
pressed air.
• Use insulated tools within the battery area to prevent blowing the internal
BMS fuse.
• To prevent risk of battery explosion, keep all flammable materials, open
flames or sparks away from the battery packs.
• Be constantly aware that some components are heavy, spring loaded, cor-
rosive, explosive, can cause high amperage or get extremely hot.
• Keep hands, face, feet and body away from any area that can expose them
to injury if an unexpected situation occurs.
• After service is complete, test the vehicle in an area that is free from vehicle
and pedestrian traffic.
