ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER
WARNING!
• Stop the engine before removing the oil
filter or chang ing the engine oil. On ly
when
the
engine has cooled
a
little should
you proceed to change the o il and re-
place the oi l filter.
• Continuous contact with
USED
eng ine oil
has caused skin cancer in laboratory
mice. Protect your skin by washing with
soap and water. Keep out of the reach
of children.
CAUTION
• Follow these instructions carefu lly. A n
improper oil filter installation can cause
oil leakage and engine damage.
• Although oil fi lters may have the same ex-
ternal appearance, their internal designs
are srgnificantly different, and thes_ e -~i[!~rs
are r,10! jnterchangea _ ~le. To avoid an_y
potential_ eng in~ damage, use only th_ e
specified fi lt§_ r for ea.ch application.
CHANGING ENGINE OIL
1. Drain the oil by removing the oil fi ller c ap
and drain plug while the engine is warm.
Be careful not to burn yourself.
2 . Replace the drain plug tightly, after the
oil has thoroughly drained .
3 . Refill the engine with new oil to the F lev-
el marked on the d ipstick.
Do not overfill.
4 . Refit the oil filler c ap securely.

Use only the specified eng ine o il (refer to
chart on page 6-33).

CHANGING OIL FIL TEA
1. Remove the eng ine oil filter with a su it-
able wrench .
2.
Use a clean rag to wipe off the mounting
surface on the engine.
3. Apply
a
small amount of eng ine oil
to
the
rubber seal of the new o il filter.
4. Install the oil filter and tighten it. (Please
refer to oil filter caution label for tighten-
ing instructions.)
5. Start the engine and inspect around the
oil tilter seal for leaks. Check the o il level
and fill to the
F
mark if necessary.

0 .1 8 US qt (0.15 Imp qt, 0.17 liter)
