a conventional tire on the
rear
axle.
Use
only
one temporary spare
tire.
When inflating
the
temporary spare
tire,
use
extreme caution as
it
will
inflate
much
faster
than
the norm
al
tire. Add
compressed
air
in
small
quantities,
and check
the
pressure tre-
q
uently,
until
it
reaches
60 psi (4.2 kg/cm
2

JACKING INSTRUCTIONS AND
CHANGING A TIRE
WARNING!
Be sure to use the
correct front
and rear
jacking points on the
vehicle,
never use
the bumpers or any other part of the ve-
hicle for
jack
support.
Do
not
exceed
the jack's
maximum
per-
missible
load,
which
is
1,430 lbs
(650 kg)
for aluminum
jack,
and
2,200
lbs (1,000
kg)
for
steel jack.
The jack
is provided
for
emergency wheel
and
tire
changing only.
Never
get
beneath the vehicle while
us-
ing the
jack.
Do
not start or
run
the engine while the
vehicle is
on
the
jac
k.
Never
attempt
vehicle
repairs
in the
traf-
fic
lanes
of a
pu
blic road
o
r highway.
Al-
ways
move
the
vehicle completely
off
the
road
and onto the shoulder before trying
to
change a tire.
If
you
cannot
find a firm
,
level
place
off the road
,
call a
servic
e
truck.
Follow jacking
instructions
to reduce the
possib
ility
of
personal
injury.

Preparation:
Park
on a
level
surface
and
set the
park-
ing brake
firmly.
Latch
the automatic transmission
in P
(Park) or
shift
the
manual
transmission
into
R
(Reverse).
WARNING!
When one rear wheel is lifted
off
the
ground
,
neither
the
automatic transmission
P
(Park)
position
nor
the
manual transmission
1
(First)
position
will
prevent
the veh icle
from
mov-
ing and possibly slipping
off
the
jack,
even
if
those positions are
properly
engaged.
To
prevent
inadvertent vehicle movement
while
changing a
tire,
always set the parking brake
fully
and
always
block the
wheel
diagonally
opposite
the wheel being changed.
Activate
the
hazard warning
flasher.
