Performance Tests and Adjustments

Performance Tests and Adjustments
The performance tests and adjustments listed below support the N9923AN analyzer. The
Agilent N7841A TME software application supports these tests and adjustments.
The Agilent N7841A TME software application executes on a PC under the Agilent
N7800A test executive. See
"TME Downloads" on page 3-8
for applicable web links.
A TME license is installed in each N9923AN. A separate license is not required for the PC.
The N7841A Help provides troubleshooting recommendations when a performance test or
adjustment fails.
A description of each of the performance tests and adjustments for the N9923AN follows.

Performance Tests

Frequency Accuracy
This test measures the accuracy of the internal time base by measuring the frequency at
Port 1. A 1.8 GHz low pass filter is used to attenuate harmonics generated by the source in
the UUT.
Error Terms
This test checks the quality of the CalReady calibration. It measures a short connected to
the port under test.
Note: The Error Terms adjustment should be performed every twelve months to preserve
calibration accuracy for CalReady.
System Dynamic Range
This test performs a two port isolation calibration which sets the reference power to the
power output level of each port (0 dB = the power output level at the port). Loads are then
connected to each port. The S21 and S12 measurements then represent the difference
between the port output power and the noise floor for a given measurement. Averaging is
used to remove random noise.
Receiver Compression
This test measures compression at +10 dBm over a range of frequencies. Power deltas
measured by the FieldFox A and B receivers are compared to power deltas measured by a
power meter. This measurement is relative to the 0 dBm reference.
Dynamic Accuracy
The Z5623A H01 test set is used to measure dynamic accuracy of the A and B receivers
down to -41 dBm. A reference power of -1 dBm is used for the test.
