Net Lockdown Mode
Net Lockdown Mode, if enabled, allows the user to lock down protocols (deny access) on the NetGuardian. If a
protocol is "locked down," the NetGuardian will simply discard packets belonging to that protocal type. Disabling
protocols provides instant security. However, it limits your options for accessing your NetGuardian.
To enable Net Lockdown via NGEdit:
1. In the Net Lockdown Mode area of the System tab, click Enable
2. Click the checkbox for any protocol you wish to lock down.
· FTP (File Transfer)
· Telnet (Terminal Access)
· TCP (HTTP, FTP, Telnet, Proxy
access)
· UDP (T/Mon, SNMP)
· ICMP (Ping)
· SSH (for TTY access)
Note: Locking down the TCP protocol will effectively block the HTTP, FTP, and Telnet protocols.
Telnet:
You can also disable Net Lockdown mode in Telnet. This is useful in case you accidentally lock yourself out of
NGEdit.
To disable Net Lockdown Mode in Telnet:
1. Open command prompt.
2. Type telnet <unit's IP address> 2002 and press Enter.
3. Type password (default password is dpstelecom) and press Enter.
· ARP (Address Resolution)
· HTTP (Web)
· SNMP (SNMP Master receiving traps)
· DCP (Over LAN)
· IGMP (Online Video)
