CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Torunthefloatbowldry:
l Turn the fuel selector switch to Gasoline
generator as described earlier.
l After the engine starts, close the fuel valve.
l Allow the generator to run until the fuel in the carburetor
is depleted and the engine stops.
To drain the fuel tank:
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the unit, drain the
engine oil before emptying the fuel tank. See Chang-
ing the engine oil for details.
l Turn the fuel selector switch to the FUEL OFF position
and open the fuel valve.
l Clean area around fuel cap and remove the cap slowly.
l Remove the fuel screen filter by slightly compressing it
while removing it from the tank.
l Using a commercially available gasoline hand pump (not
included), siphon the gasoline from the fuel tank into an
approved gasoline container. DO NOT use an electric
pump.
NOTE: The fuel tank can also be drained using the carbure-
tor drain screw and drain hose as described earlier. Turn the
fuel selector switch to Gasoline
to allow fuel to flow from the tank through the carburetor.
REPLACING THE FUEL VALVE
See Figure 37.
Overtime, the fuel filter inside the fuel valve may become
dirty or clogged. To reduce the risk of engine failure, re-
place the entire fuel valve including the filter according to
the figures specified in the maintenance schedule or the
engine manual (if applicable).
l Turn the generator off and allow the engine to cool for
30 minutes.
l Drain the fuel tank as described previously.
l Locate the fuel valve and note the valve's orientation.
NOTE: Place an approved gasoline container beneath
the fuel valve to catch any remaining fuel.
l Using pliers, squeeze the fuel line clip and slide the fuel
line away from the filter.
l Using a 19 mm wrench (not included), loosen and remove
the fuel valve from the tank.
l Thread the new fuel valve onto the fuel tank and tighten
securely.
l Install the fuel line onto the new fuel valve.
