ERES Acquisition
The oscilloscope uses a kind of ultra-sample technique to average the neighboring points of the sample
waveform to reduce the random noise on the input signal and generate much smoother waveforms on
the screen. ERES mode is generally used when the sample rate of the digital converter is higher than
the storage rate of the acquisition memory.
ERES mode can be used on single-shot and repetitive signals and does not slow waveform updates.
This mode limits the oscilloscope's real- time bandwidth because it acts like a low- pass filter.
Average and ERES mode use different averaging methods. The former uses
waveform average and the latter uses dot average.
