Spectra T50 Library Firmware

Firmware Package History

BlueScale10.0.10-20080828F

Enhancements
The encryption feature in Symantec NetBackup 6.5.2 no longer interferes with the
encryption settings of the library when using LTO-4 tape drives.
Make sure that you perform the updates in this order to avoid issues:
1. Update the library to BlueScale 10.0.10.
2. Upgrade the LTO-4 tape drive firmware to v8940.
3. Update to NetBackup 6.5.2.
ScanDisk automatically scans the compact flash every time the library starts up.
Added support for IBM tape drive firmware version 82F0 and newer.
Known Issues
Problem
IBM LTO Fibre Channel drive firmware
version 82F0 and above is incompatible with
pre-10.0.10 BlueScale firmware.
When a tape with a broken leader is loaded
into a tape drive, the load fails with sense
4,85,99 and the tape is put back in the
source slot. Every following load to that
drive fails in the exact same manner
regardless of what media is used. Loads to
other drives will succeed as normal and
power cycle clears the condition.

Tape Drive Firmware
1. Upgrade the library firmware to
BlueScale10.0.10.
2. Upgrade the drive firmware or add the
drive with the new firmware.
If your T50 begins reporting 4,85,99 sense
code, follow these steps:
1. Remove all media from the library (via
General > Import/Export or via your
backup software) and check them for the
one containing the broken leader.
2. Eliminate the damaged media from the
pool of usable cartridges.
3. Power cycle the library to clear the error.
