Configuring the Library

IP Addressing

The library must be connected to the network before powering the library on.
The Spectra T50 library's IP address is automatically assigned by Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol (DHCP). If you need to determine the library's IP address, you
can do so on the LC. The library's IP address can be viewed or changed by selecting
Configuration > Network.

Partition Creation

A maximum of one partition per installed drive can be configured. If you want to
configure the library with more than one partition, you must have purchased a Shared
Library Services (SLS) option key.

Firmware Package Servers

Both Microsoft's Internet Information Services (IIS) and the Unix-based Apache server
work as package servers. See the Spectra T50 Library User Guide for detailed
information about configuring and using a package server.

Maintaining the Library

Tape Drive Firmware
Starting with this release of BlueScale firmware, IBM LTO-4 Fibre Channel tape drives
in the T50 library must be using firmware version 82FC or above. This drive firmware
level requires drive sled (DCM) firmware version 3.13.3 (Build 2), which is included in
the BlueScale10.0.10 and later firmware packages. LTO-4 drives running firmware
versions earlier than 82FC are not compatible with pre-BlueScale10.0.10 firmware.
Compatibility occurs when you:
install a new LTO-4 drive running firmware version 82FC or later in a T50 library
running BlueScale10.0.10 or later.
upgrade your T50 library to BlueScale 10.0.10, and then upgrade your existing
LTO-4 drives to firmware version 82FC.
Incompatibility occurs when you:
upgrade your existing LT0-4 drive to firmware version 82FC or later and then install
it in a T50 library running pre-BlueScale10.0.10 firmware. Drives running firmware
version 82FC or later are not compatible with BlueScale versions earlier than
10.0.10.
