Bath Tank and Lid

The Bath tank and lid assembly includes:
The tank
The control probe
The stirring motor
The access hole
The access-hole cover
The stirring motor cover, covers the stirring motor, cooling fan, and control probe.
The stainless steel Bath tank resists oxidation in the presence of most chemicals and over a
wide temperature range.
The control probe provides the temperature feedback signal to the controller that allows the
controller to maintain a constant temperature. The control probe is a precision platinum
resistance thermometer (PRT). Handle the delicate PRT carefully. Place the probe in the
small hole in the top of the Bath inside the stir motor cover so that the probe tip is fully
immersed in the bath fluid.
The stirring motor, mounted on the Bath tank lid, drives the stirring propeller to mix the bath
fluid. A proper fluid mix is important for constant temperature stability.
On the Bath lid is a large access hole. Use this to fill and empty the Bath with fluids and to
place thermometers and devices into the Bath.
Use an access-hole cover to close the access hole in the top of the Bath. This improves bath
temperature stability, prevents excess fluid evaporation or fumes, and increases safety with
hot fluid. Drill or cut holes in the cover to accommodate the instruments calibrated or
immersed in the Bath. Spare covers are available from Fluke Calibration.
A stainless steel baffle inside the tank ensures proper fluid flow and protects probes and
thermometers from contact with the stirrers. There are slots near the bottom of the baffle to
insert the liquid-in-glass adapter.
